I know that after a few months of using the
same emoticon "theme" for my instant messenger
and email software, I start to grow a bit tired
of it. Perhaps I'll let it sit for a few more
weeks, and then I'll just hate the very idea of
even using a smiley face to express myself! I'm
sure you've found yourself in the same
situation. At this point in time, it's a good
idea to start looking into download
emoticons.
Fortunately the internet is a vast place chock full of great
things to download, so you're in luck. One can find just about
any emoticon theme they could ever dream up without having to
look very hard. Tired of those regular old yellow smiley faces?
How about pink? Or purple? Or blue? Or what about something a
bit more advanced? There are a wide variety of large,
novelty-sized type emoticons available. Some range from very
glossy and classy looking - the web 2.0 of smilies - all the
way down to the funny or even obscene. Don't want smilies? How
about animals? Animal emoticons are becoming more and more
popular and are really quite easy to find.
But that's all a bit "run of the mill." You can really get
customized with your emoticons - what about your favorite
television show as a theme? Or your favorite band? Or a set of
emoticons featuring your favorite actor/actress? Yes, all these
things exist, believe it or not. Fandom has come to a new
height when it comes to emoticons, so if you can't get enough
of a certain topic, you'll find yourself quite easily able to
get whatever it is you're interested in, in emoticon
format.
So you now know that there are a vast amount of smilies or
emoticons available and at your disposal, sure to be able to
fit any desire or mood you may have. But what if, and this is a
big if, you can't find what you want? You're still in luck.
It's quite possible to create your own emoticons if you have a
little bit of knowledge in using graphical editing software -
and most instant messenger and email communication software
make it quite easy to upload your own "packages" of emoticons.
But remember, the person you're talking to has to have the same
set of emoticons on their computer in order to see what you're
seeing - so unless it's just for a personal preference, you'll
have to remind them to download emoticons
you're using too.
The nice thing about being able to download just about any
kind of emoticon you want these days is that you'll find
yourself very rarely getting bored of the icons, since you'll
have the ability to "switch things up" so often. This is a good
way to keep things fresh, and especially if you work with
computers frequently, keeping things interesting and fun can be
highly beneficial. Even little changes like the style of your
emoticons can increase your willingness to be online and
therefore increase your productivity.
